Dawgs lead in week 4 of SEC Power Poll

Georgia’s #1 in a poll of SEC bloggers on the conference:

Some love for the Bulldogs

Great win on Monday, to go cross-country and win against Rutgers. (A certain Top 25 SEC team had trouble going cross-country later that night, showing how difficult it is to play three time zones from home.) Here’s some props from a neutral fan.

Also, I really like Pat Hill. His well-known approach to playing tough OOC games (and winning them) really gains my respect.

Would Sly have delivered better results than Mike? One thing is for sure, we wouldn’t have all those thugs on the team.

Georgia giving Vanderbilt way too much credit

OK, full disclosure: I’m actually a Vanderbilt fan working on bulldogs.com. Imagine that.

I can understand UGa fans being upset over the performance last week in Knoxville, but believe me, I know bad football whereas, for those Georgia fans who weren’t around in the Ray Goff era, this is probably a new experience. And I think threads like this one to be over the top.

Frankly I expect both teams to play a lot better than they did last week, and I expect Georgia to pull out a 10-to-14 point win. When the opponent’s got this much on the line, I’d always pick against Vanderbilt.

Hope I’m wrong....

Kyle King at Dawg Sports definitely hasn’t forgotten [last year’s Vanderbilt win], and describes an outlook reminding me very much of Vandy fatalism

UGA 24, Vandy 17… (back-to-back losses to Vandy would send our fans, me included, into spasms of animalistic rage which can only be sated by the destruction of some cheap handtools).

“Animalistic rage.” Well, that sounds fearful, indeed, and handtool destruction is never pretty. But if I read Kyle correctly, only a dead-bang blowout of Auburnian proportions would yield any positive feelings whatever to the Dawg faithful. A simple victory would be joyless.

Here’s the whole rundown on Best of the SEC Blogs

The Dead Guy’s SEC picks: Picks UGa to beat Vanderbilt, but not spread

The Dead Guy picks Georgia to beat Vanderbilt, but not to cover the 7 point spread:

The ‘Dawgs have their backs against the wall in this one, as another loss – particularly in the division – would all but eliminate them from title hopes. The ‘Dawgs bounce back from their UT loss and win a close game in Nashville.
